ACTS Leadership Conference: 9-14 December 2014
The ACTS Leadership Conference is an annual conference that the Catholic Tertiary students hold during the December vacation. This conference aims to sharpen the students’ leadership skills both in the Church and their lives in general. This conference also decides where the following National Conference will go. Although this years’ Conference was held at Ha Phororo Youth retreat Centre in Hartebeespoort in the North West which is a different venue from Kononia Conference Centre where this conference has been held in the past, it was an overwhelming success.
Having had morning prayers and Mass every day and confession session on the second day of the conference, this conference, without a fail, did amazingly execute its theme; Equipping leaders with the spirit to serve in the spirit of Christ. Having had presentations from why leaders pray, how to use Media and Communication to Market the ACTS Movement, leadership workshop to the breaking down of each portfolio in ACTS on all levels, the conference was productive. “The ACTS leadership conference taught me a lot about leadership and I am very glad I went” said one of the attendants.
Furthermore, the decision as to where is the next ACTS National Conference which will be during the June vacation next year is going was taken by this Catholic students body. The decision was that it is going to the Western Cape. These were thrilling news to everyone, including the alumni of this movement because since the inception of this organization (1993), the National Conference has never gone to the Western Cape. The main plans for this students’ body are to make the June/July National Conference to be held in the Western Cape much of a success as possible.
